Meenakshi Dixit (born 12 October), is an Indian model, dancer and actress. She has appeared in various Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films.


Meenakshi Dixit was born 12 October in Raebareli, India. She is the daughter of Ishwar Chandra Dixit, a senior lawyer, and Geeta Dixit. She graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry.[citation needed] She has trained in Kathak and western dance. She was active in sports, especially in athletics.


In 2008 Meenakshi Dixit appeared as a contestant in NDTV Imagine's dance reality show Nachle Ve with Saroj Khan hosted by Saroj Khan, which led to her entry to the Indian film industry. She first appeared in a Telugu film, Lifestyle. Later on, she got into modelling, endorsing local and international brands such as Joyalukkas Jewelry, Microsoft Windows, Fair and Handsome cream, Chennai Silks, Shankaram diamond jewellery, Brook Bond Taza tea, Paaneri Sarees, Lee Cooper, Red Square Energy Drink, Radio Mirchi and ESSAR, and Anytime Fitness gym. She has also been a regular model for the fashion industry, as well as in prominent Indian magazines.


In 2011, she made a special appearance in a dance number in Dookudu, the year's highest grossing Telugu film.Following Dookudu, she was also chosen by the producers of the Bodyguard remake to do a dance number, hoping that it would repeat the success of her number in Dookudu. She also performed an item number in the Tamil film Billa II, considered to be one of her biggest project to be done yet. 2014 she was seen in lead roles in two films. She essayed the role of a princess in the Tamil period-comedy Tenaliraman  while the thriller-drama Adavi Kachina Vennela saw her playing an aspiring sharp shooter, with the actress also performing stunts in the film. She will be making her Hindi debut with P Se PM Tak in which she plays a call girl.

Nargis Fakhri (born as Nargis Mohammed A. Fakhri) is an Pakistani American fashion model and actress. She has appeared on America's Next Top Model and made her Bollywood debut with 2011 Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar, and consequently starred as a war correspondent in the 2013 thriller film Madras Cafe, for which she received critical acclaim.

In addition to acting, she is the brand ambassador of Mobilink, a Pakistani network service.

Fakhri was born in Queens, New York to a Pakistani father Mohammed A. Fakhri and a Czech mother Marie A. Fakhri. She also has a sister Aliya Fakhri. According to Fakhri she and her sister Aliya raised as Muslim traditions.  Her parents divorced each other when she was barely six or seven years old.

Fakhri appeared on America's Next Top Model Cycles 2 and 3 in 2004.  She posed for the 2009 Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar.

In 2011, she made her feature film debut in the musical romantic drama Bollywood film, Rockstar, directed by Imtiaz Ali. She played the female lead role of Heer Kaul, the girl who falls in love with Jordan (played by Ranbir Kapoor), who eventually becomes a famous international artist, but their relationship is obstructed by her marriage and a series of health problems. She ends up breaking his heart and dying whilst pregnant with his child.

The film was a hit, performing well at the box office, however Fakhri's performance received mixed reviews, with some stating that she was overshadowed by Kapoor, but with others branding her as "promising." She received nominations at several award ceremonies, including the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut.

Fakhri is currently signed on for a three film contract with Akshay Kumar's Hari Om Productions.

Fakhri received critical acclaim for her role as a British war correspondent, Jaya Sahni, in Shoojit Sircar's political espionage thriller Madras Cafe, where she featured alongside John Abraham. Her performance was branded "exceptional" by one critic and it was stated that she "strikes the right notes."

Fakhri did extensive research for the role, and was widely appreciated for having come a long way in terms of performance. She made a special appearance in the item number "Dhating Naach" in Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, which was released in September 2013. She is currently filming for Main Tera Hero, a David Dhawan film co-starring Varun Dhawan and Ileana D'Cruz, to be released in April 2014.

Career

Vijay is a native of Kumbakonam but grew up in Coimbatore. He met K. Bhagyaraj through his brother, who was a family friend and worked with him in films and his magazine, Bhagya. Vijay made his debut at lyricist in Gnanapazham in 1996 and went on to write many popular songs.

Vijay was originally supposed to make his acting debut with Thaai Kaaviyam however the film was shelved after the launch.  He then made his acting debut with Gnabagangal (2009) for which he also wrote the script. The film received negative reviews and went unnoticed at box office.

Vijay then acted in Ilaignan (2011), scripted by M. Karunanidhi where he was portrayed as a bonded labour of a ship. The film became a failure at the box office. Vijay made his debut as producer and director with Strawberry (2015).
