She has since appeared in a serial on the Puthiya Thalamurai channel, while also making an appearance as a software engineer in Maan Karate (2014) and portraying a role in the unreleased Malayalam film Ente Sathyanweshana Pareekshakal. Ashwathy has regularly featured in commercials and photoshoots for South Indian brands, while also training in acting at Anupam Kher's acting school, before getting a breakthrough with her appearance in the music video "Yedhachu".

In 2016, Ashwathy played her first lead role in Gowtham Sundararajan's directorial debut Kannula Kaasa Kattappa, portraying the daughter of a millionaire. She was signed for the role after being recommended by Gowtham's wife, Kokila Hariram, who had been Ashwathy's dance teacher.

Aishwarya made her debut in the 2011 film Avargalum Ivargalum, playing one of the lead roles, which was followed by minor roles in S. A. Chandrasekhar's Sattapadi Kutram and Vilayada Vaa. She appeared in the 2012 cult film, Attakathi, portraying the character of Amudha. She also acted in the films Aachariyangal and Puthagam, in which she was paired opposite Sanjay Bharathi.

In 2014, she was seen alongside Vijay Sethupathi in two films, Rummy, and Pannaiyarum Padminiyum, released within two weeks. While the first film was a village drama set in the 1980s, the latter was based on a short film of the same name, and revolved around an old man and his vintage car Premier Padmini. Critics praised her performances, especially in Rummy. Hindustan Times wrote that she was "extremely promising" while film critic Baradwaj Rangan noted that she was "expressive", calling her "a tonic for nerves frayed by the alabaster automatons we usually get as heroines". Later that year, she appeared in a song sequence in R. Parthiepan's Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam and as the female lead in Thirudan Police.


Aishwarya's first release in 2015 was Kaaka Muttai. Her portrayal of a slum dweller and mother of two children was lauded by critics. Baradwaj Rangan wrote, "it features stunning performances from everyone...especially Aishwarya Rajesh, who plays the kids' mother with a world-weariness that belies her years". Other reviewers stated that she was "excellent", played her role with "with extraordinary ease"  and that she "leaves you awe-struck". That year, she also made her the stage debut, playing Cinderella from the same-titled fairytale that was adapted as a "musical dance drama".


As of late 2015, she is working simultaneously on multiple upcoming projects. She has completed filming for Seenu Ramasamy's Idam Porul Yaeval, in which she portrays a patti mandram (debate) speaker, Kutramae Thandanai that sees her collaborating with Kaaka Muttai director Manikandan and the horror comedy film Hello Naan Pei Pesuren, in which she plays a tele-shopping sales girl. She made her cinematic debut in 2009 with the highly successful Neelathaamara, portraying the role of Kunjimalu, a maid in an old Nair Tharavadu (ancestral home) who falls for the young master of the house. Director Lal Jose said that "Archana has an in-born talent". Her role won lot of critical accolades. In her next venture titled Mummy & Me, which narrated the tale of the tumultuous relationship between a modern day teenager and her mother, she played the lead role of a rebellious teenager named Jewel. Archana stated the character Jewel was "so very like the real me".But her following release Best of Luck where she reunited with her Neelathamara co-stars Kailash and Rima Kallingal,failed to make an impact the box office. She made her Tamil debut in the period film Aravaan  in which she played a play a tribal character named Chimby.

In 2013 she also made her Telugu debut in Backbench Student. Archana stated that she played "a college girl caught in a sweet love tale" in the film. She acted as the lead in Abhiyum Njanum, in which she played a modern girl from Mumbai, who comes to Kerala in search of her fiancee. In Honey Bee she played a naïve Anglo-Indian girl Sara. She played s supporting role as the hero Karthik's best friend in Pattam Pole. Her next films Bangles in which she played a junior artiste, and Nadodimannan in which she played a doctor, both released on the same day.

She has signed her second Tamil film Gnana Kirukkan. She is shooting for Day-Night opposite Maqbool Salmaan. She has acted as a Muslim girl in the film Mazhavillinattam Vare, which is Kaithapram's directorial debut. She will also be seen in Nemam Pushparaj's upcoming film Kukkiliyar, in which she plays Manoj K Jayan's daughter who plays a 75-year-old. Archana also shot for a Hindi film Saroja, an offbeat film directed by Anjali Shukla, playing the role of a commercial sex worker.

She anchored Sundari Neeyum Sundaran Njaanum, a reality show for television actors on Asianet. She maintains a Twitter account. In 2010 she was only one of two Malayalam actresses maintaining an active Twitter account.
