  Tanvi Vyas
Tanvi Vyas won the Miss India Earth title in 2008. It was first won by Harshita Saxena who eventually surrendered her title to Ms. Tanvi due to the violation of a contract signed with Gladrags.

She later competed in the Miss Earth competition, but she did not make it to the semi-finals.

She moved to the U. S., where she pursued her higher studies. Keeping her later career in mind, she studied Communications and Journalism at University of Albany. After completing her education, she returned to India in 2008 and since, stays with her grandparents in Chennai. However, she then ventured into modeling, appearing in various television commercials like Nutrine Maha Lacto, Prince Jewellery and Cadbury Dairy Milk.

She was subsequently receiving acting offers from directors, who had seen her television commercials. She was initially supposed to make her acting debut in the Tamil film Pugaippadam, which she signed up first, but since its release was delayed until 2010, her first release became the action-thriller Vaamanan, directed by newcomer Ahmed.

She was assigned for the project in late 2008 to portray Divya, a simple girl next door, whom the male lead character, essayed by Jai, would fall in love with. The film created some anticipation before its release, mainly due to its hit music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, enabling a big opening, but fared only averagely at the Chennai box office. In 2010, three of her films released within short span, the first on New Year 2010, which was the college-life based drama Pugaippadam, a film revolving around friendship between seven students Priya enacted the charcater of one of the student roles, a Malayali Christian named Shiney George. The film opened to mixed reviews and proved to be commercially unsuccessful.

She next starred in her first Telugu film, AVM Productions Sekhar Kammula directed political drama Leader, alongside newcomers Rana Daggubati and Richa Gangopadhyay. She recalls that an assistant director of Kammula had found her on Facebook and invited her and how he she had to audition thrice for the film to prove herself and eventually get the offer. She played Ratna Prabha, a television channel owner and friend to a young man, who would later go on to become a political leader.

Although her screen presence in the film was very limited, her performance garnered overwhelming response and was well received, while the film itself earned positive reviews and became a critical success. The Dil Raju-produced family entertainer Rama Rama Krishna Krishna is her most recent release, in which she plays the love interest of the films male protagonist. She is currently working on a bilingual Tamil-Telugu project by noted ad filmmaker Jayendra, in which she would act opposite Siddharth.

Career

At Abhinaya, Kusruti made her theatre debut in Baudhayana's classic farce Bhagavadajjukam. She played the lead role of Vasantsena in the production from 2000 to 2006. The play toured across theatre festivals, including the Bharat Rang Mahotsav and the International Theatre Festival of Kerala. She rendered the part of Kamala in Jyotish M G’s stage adaptation of Herman Hesse' Siddhartha. In 2007, the production was invited to the Villeneuve en Scene Festival d’Avignon.In 2009, after returning from L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq, Kusruti appeared in the anthology film Kerala Cafe, in the segment “Island Express” directed by Shankar Ramakrishnan. In 2010, she played a Naxalite in the Mohanlal starrer Shikkar, but her nuanced rendition of a sex worker in the 2010 film Cocktail got her noticed by mainstream audiences.

In December 2010, Kani collaborated on creating ‘Las Indias’, a "mega performance event" directed by the thespian and theatre pedagogist Elias Cohen. The performance was staged in a bus, that was designed for the production. The Indo-Latin American theatre company, the Singing Sticks Theatre Ensemble evolved out of Las Indias. The bus that was originally created for Las Indias, was used once again for an interactive theatre roadshow 'Tsunami Express: Highway of Hopes’, which Kusruti collaborated on making.

In 2011, Kani joined the renowned touring theatre company Footsbarn to work on a new production of Shakespeare’s Tempest. She played Miranda in the resulting performance “The Indian Tempest”.  After touring Ireland, Spain, France, Portugal and India, the production opened at Shakespeare’s Globe in 2013.

Kusruti researched, co-developed and acted in the Indo-Polish production 'Burning Flowers - 7 Dreams of a Woman', directed by Pawel Szkotak and produced by Teatr Biuro Podróży.

In 2015, Kani became a household presence with the soap opera Eswaran Sakshiyayi, directed by K K Rajeev. She played the part of Advocate Tresa, a lawyer who joins in on the investigation for her brother’s murder.

Kusruti has acted in Vipin Vijay’s upcoming feature film, due for a 2017 release.

Personal life

Kusruti’s mother Dr.Jayasree AK, a community health specialist and a social activist, lectures at Pariyaram Medical College, and is a regular guest on talk shows. Her father Maitreya Maitreyan has worked for, and led, several human rights movements in Kerala.

Kani Kusruti lives in Mumbai with her partner, the filmmaker and science communicator Anand Gandhi. She identifies herself as an atheist and a rationalist.

Srinda is married to Ashab but is currently living separated, and they have a son named Arhaan.  Srinda changed her surname as Srinda Arhaan.  She started her acting career after marriage.
