Her maternal grandfather was the mridangam maestro, Palghat Mani Iyer.

Her mother, Lalitha Sivakumar, was her first guru (teacher). Like her mother, Nithyashree was also the disciple of D. K. Pattammal, and would accompany her in concert. Nithyashree's father, an accomplished mridangist and disciple of Palghat Mani Iyer, would constantly show his support and accompany Nithyashree when she performed.

Padmashree Nithyashree has performed in all major sabhas all over India and has presented her concerts in the United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Germany, France, Singapore, Malaysia and various other destinations throughout the world.

Nithyashree's maiden performance was titled 'best concert of the series'. She is an A.I.R. Prize Winner (1990) and has been an 'A' grade artist. She has been awarded the "Yuva Kala Bharathi" title by Bharath Kalachar in 1994, "Innisai Maamani" by Tamil Nadu Welfare Association, "Kalaimamani" by Hamsadhwani in 2000, "Isai Paeroli" by Kartik Fine Arts in 2001, and various other prestigious awards such as ", "Padma Sadhana" (2004), and "Naada Kovida" (2006).

She was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Sathyabama University of Jeppiar in Chennai in late 2007.

Nithyashree's first Carnatic performance was for the Youth Association For Classical Music on 10 August 1987. The concert lasted 1 hour, and was scheduled between 6:00pm and 7:00pm. Prominent Carnatic musicians that were present at the concert, included D. K. Pattammal, D. K. Jayaraman, Vijay Siva, R. K. Sriramkumar, as well as the chief guest at that concert, K. V. Narayanaswamy.

She has given numerous concerts consisting of only patriotic songs to commemorate the 50th year of Indian Independence, a few with D. K. Pattammal before her grandmother stopped performing in public.

D. K. Jayaraman and D. K. Pattammal were known for singing and popularising the compositions of Papanasam Sivan, having learnt them directly from the composer himself. Nithyashree has continued this tradition. She has also given a lecture demonstration in Coimbatore for Manoranjitham on "Papanasam Sivan - A Legend", and made two special thematic albums that solely contained his compositions.Like D. K. Pattammal, Nithyashree has also popularised compositions of Gopalakrishna Bharathi. She presented a paper on the Life and Contribution of Gopalakrishna Bharathi for the Music Department of PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. Her two thematic albums that solely consisted of his compositions have been very popular, both online and offline.

Nithyashree's commanding, high-pitched voice is well suited to various genres of music including Carnatic music, devotional music, as well as patriotic and popular songs.

Nithyashree's introduction to Tamil playback singing came when A.R. Rahman called her to Panchathan Recording Inn, in Chennai, for a voice test sometime in the 1990s. The output from her visit was used for the song "Kannodu Kanbadellam" in the movie Jeans starring Aishwarya Rai and Prashanth. This became particularly popular which resulted in many songs in the same combination like "Minsara Kanna" from Padayappa, "Sowkiyama Kannae" from Sangamam, and "Manmatha Maasam" from Parthale Paravasam.

Some of her other songs include "Kumbakonam Sandhayile" from New, "Oru Nadhi Oru Pournami" from Samurai, "Kana Kaangiren" from Ananda Thandavam as well as "Thaai Thindra Mannae" from the film Aayirathil Oruvan.

Nithyashree and her husband, Mahadevan, have two daughters, named Tanujasree and Tejashree.

Sonu Sood was born on 30 July 1973 and brought up in Moga, Punjab but later moved to Nagpur for higher studies where he participated in modelling event. He studied in sacred heart school in Moga city . He grew up with two sisters. His father was an entrepreneur and his mother was a teacher. Since his childhood he wanted to be an actor. He often visits his hometown frequently on family functions, as a guest and to inspire the youth.

A graduate in Electronics Engineering from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur, he is married to Sonali and they have a son named Ishant.

Though Sonu Sood made his debut in Tamil film Prashanth starer Majunu his second film Kallazhagar 1999, got released along with Laila Mehdin, opposite to Vijayakanth which did not fetch him any recognition and the third film as an antagonist in Telugu film Hands Up (2000), which was a box office dud. Sonu got introduced in Tamil Majnu (2001). The film was a smashing musical hit. That gave him lots of identity and he made his acting debut in Hindi films with Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh in 2002, which won critical acclaim for his performance. But he was better noticed as Abhishek Bachchan's brother in Mani Ratnam's Yuva (2004) and in Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005).  Sonu did some steamy stuff in Sheesha (2005) and Siskiyaan (2005).

In Tollywood, with the release of Super in 2005, he received greater recognition for his work.  In this film, his co-star was Nagarjuna as a high-tech thief. However, the film didn't perform as well as expected. His next film was Athadu, which was a super-hit, but didn't help in building his image. In 2006 he again portrayed the antagonist in Ashok. It was an average grosser, but by now he had become popular in Telugu films.

It was Arundhati that took him to the greatest unimagined heights in a non-local industry. He played the role of Aghora. This film turned out to be the biggest Telugu hit of that year.

Following the Tollywood hit of Arundhati, in February 2008, he played the role of Rajkumar Sujamal in the Indian epic film, Jodha Akbar. In 2009, he played the role of Gangster Bada in Anjaneyulu opposite Ravi Teja, but the role held less scope for his acting skills. In the latter half of 2009, he acted in another Telugu film, Ek Niranjan, in which he again played the antagonist. The film received mixed reviews, but Sood was critically praised for his portrayal of a sadistic villain. His histrionics and slang mixing English with Telugu in this film proved to be sensational.

In 2010, he played the lead antagonist in Abhinav Kashyap's Dabangg, co-starring with Salman Khan.  His Kannada debut with Sudeep Only Vishnuvardhana released with a great response and critics lauded his performance.
