Sharma graduated with Bachelor's of Science, specialized in textile design/fabrics from Institute of Home Economics college of University of Delhi. She also did her professional fashion designing course from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi. She attended acting workshops under Nadira Babbar, Juhu, Mumbai.
In 2006, Shilpi is begun her career with participating in beauty pageant contest for Miss Delhi Teen Queen. In 2010, she participated in citadel miss Pune competition. Mayavaram Krishnamurthy Thyagaraja Bhagavathar (1 March 1910 – 1 November 1959), also called M.K.T., was an Indian actor, producer and Carnatic music singer. He is considered to be one of the most successful actors in Tamil cinema ever.
