The charming Mugdha received her first golden chance in the movie 'Fashion' by Madhur Bhandarkar in 2008. In this movie, her co-stars were the established actresses like Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut. For the performance in film 'Fashion', Mugdha got nominated for 'Best Female Debut' at Filmfare Awards. Apsara Award conferred the title 'Best Female Debutante' to Mugdha. Thus his market value significantly diminished and only went to make three more films despite his initial success. His decision to produce and direct Uruvam became a financial failure and put him into bankruptcy.

G. M. Kumar is an Indian film actor and director who has appeared in Tamil language films.

In the early 2000s, he was once again on the verge of bankruptcy and chose to act in minor roles offered by his proteger Raj Kapoor, in films including Ramchandra and the unreleased Sivalingam IPS. He expressed his surprise at being given an offer by Shankar's production house and took up the role in Veyil (2006) to make ends meet, winning acclaim for his role.

Bala approached him to star in Avan Ivan as a character called Highness, with his performance winning him a nomination for the Vijay Award for Best Supporting Actor. Critics labelled his performance as "riveting", though the film only won average reviews.

Before coming into the film industry, he worked as a teacher. He made his debut as an actor in the 1936 Kannada movie Samsara Nauke. Samsara Nauke was produced by Devi Films based in Chennai. Directed by H. L. N. Simha, the film starred B.R. Panthulu, M.V. Rajamma, Dikki Madhava Rao, S.K. Padmadevi, and M.S. Madhava Rao. The hero marries against his grandfather's wishes and is cast out.

His troubles do not end here – he finds no favour with his in-laws, loses his job, and finds himself accused of murdering the bride his grandfather had chosen for him.The film was adapted from a play by the Chadrakala Natak Mandali, and remained true to the original's reformist ideal. He made his directional debut in the 1957 movie Thangamalai Ragasiyam (1957), which he produced himself.He directed many remarkable Kannada movies like School master, Sri Krishna deva Raya,Kittur Channamma etc.,
He has produced and directed 57 films in all South Indian languages under the banner of Padmini Pictures
