Ranya Rao is an Indian actress and model who appears in South Indian films. She made her debut with the 2014 Kannada film, Maanikya.

Ranya Rao originally hails from the Chikmagalur district of the Indian state of Karnataka. After completing her schooling in Kodagu, she began pursuing her graduation in engineering at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore. Eager to pursue a career in acting, she dropped out and began training at the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute in Mumbai. Around this time, she started out as a model.

Rao was first signed by actor and director Sudeep in April 2014 for his directorial Kannada film, Maanikya. In June 2015, Rao signed her second film and first Tamil film, Wagah.She is cast opposite Vikram Prabhu, and is her first film as a female lead. Around the same time, she also signed her second Kannada film Pataki and is cast opposite Ganesh.

Rahasya was born in Chikkamagalur district of Karnataka to Kannadiga Parents.Her father Shashidhar,is a coffee estate owner and mother Nanda is a housewife.She completed her schooling in Bangalore and is an alumna of .St. Aloysius College (Mangalore).

She was studying in the first year in architectural engineering when she received a film offer for Saarathi. She dropped out of college to pursue a career in films. She has also some modelling and has completed a one-year course in jewellery designing.

In 2014, she was first seen in Endendu Ninagagi as Soumya, "a very bold, in-your-face, today's girl".She stated that the role was "quite challenging because this is not me" but that she loved playing it. She will be making her Tamil film debut in Lucia, a remake of the same-titled Kannada film, in which she will play the character that Shruti Hariharan did in the original. Even before her Tamil debut she signed up her next Tamil film, Vishnuvardhan's Yatchan.
