Thavakalai alias Chittibabu; A native of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, Thavakalai made his entry into acting with actor-director K Bhagyaraj-helmed super hit movie 'Mundhanai Mudichi'. Since the name of his character in the film was 'Thavakalai', people started calling him so and he too accepted it.

Known for his short appearance and unique dialogue delivery, he had acted in close to 70 films so far, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.

Thavakalai alias Chittibabu died in Chennai on Sunday (Feb 26, 2017).  He is 42 and is survived by wife Podhumani.

According to sources close to his family, Thavakalai, who came home last night (Feb 25, 2017) after attending the shoot of a Malayalam film, started vomitting this morning (Feb 26, 2017). He asked his wife to get him water, and collapsed after drinking it, as he suffered a massive cardiac arrest.

Shakeela is an Indian actress who has appeared mostly in softcore and B movies. She mostly acted in film industries of Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, and Kannada languages. She started out as an actor in B-grade movies in the early 1990s. Later she moved to Chennai seeking a career in South Indian film industry. Shakeela debuted through the Tamil soft porn movie, ‘Playgirls’ at the age of 20 as a supporting actress.

Shakeela's first movie was a Tamil soft porn movie named "Playgirls", in which Silk Smitha was the leading actress. After that she acted in many B graded movies. Her big hit film was Kinnarathumbikal in Malayalam, which brought her under limelight. She had become popular by acting in B-grade Malayalm films at a time when Malayalam film industry was going through a bad recession. The strict censor rules in other Indian states helped the B-Grade movie makers to concentrate in Malayalam, and were later dubbed in to other Indian languages.

The returns on these films are assured even if they run only in 30 to 40 stations. Her popular B-Grade films were dubbed and released in almost all Indian languages. Her films were dubbed even into foreign languages like Nepalese, Chinese, Sinhala etc. After she acted in several movies, the soft-porn movie industry in India was colloqiuly called as "Shakeela films" After the censor rules were tightened in Malayalam, the B-Grade movie industry got declined. Also, there were attacks in Kerala against B-movies, which resulted in theatres declining to show these genre films.  Shakeela is now appearing in comedy oriented character roles in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. She acted in more than 110 movies.

Shakeela has featured in over 100 films in malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, kannanda and Telugu in various roles.

Sripathi Panditaradhyula Sailaja is an Indian singer and actress who has lent her voice to Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films. She has sung about 5000 songs to date.

Early life

She was born in Konetammapeta in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. Her father, SP Sambamurthy, was a well-known exponent of Harikatha and her brother S. P. Balasubrahmanyam is a prolific playback singer in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam films.

Sailaja has occasionally worked as a voice actor and dubbed for various artistes including Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Sridevi among others.

Acting

Sailaja acted in Saagara Sangamam, a Telugu venture directed by K. Viswanath, in which she played the role of a classical dancer; it was later dubbed into Tamil as Salangai Oli.

Television works

Sailaja has appeared as both an audition judge and a guest judge in several episodes of Vijay TV's musical reality-talent shows, including seasons 2, 3, and 4 of Airtel Super Singer, and seasons 2, 3, and 4 of Airtel Super Singer Junior.

Sailaja is currently a judge in season 1 of Jaya TV's musical reality-talent show, Jaya Super Singer South India.

Personal life

She is married to Subhalekha Sudhakar, a Tollywood actor. The couple has a son, Sreekar. Apart from being a playback singer, she is also a classical dancer.

Vanisri or Ratna Kumari (born 3 August 1948), also known as Vanisree or Vanishree, is a popular Telugu actress in the mid-1960s to the late 1970s. Her portfolio also includes Kannada and Tamil films.

Vanisri was born in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India in 1948. Actor S V Ranga Rao gave her screen name Vanisri.

She gained attention with a supporting role in a film penned by K. Balachander titled Sukha Dukhalu (1967), where the famous song "Idi Mallela Velayani" was picturized on her. It led to her first starring role in Telugu films, Marapurani Kadha (1967). She remained a heroine after this film and held the top spot through most of the 1970s.

Vanisri had several super hit and silver jubilee movies, such as Krishnaveni(Telugu Remake of Kannada Movie Sharapanjara), Prem Nagar, Dasara Bullodu, Aradhana, Jeevitha Chakram, Rangula Ratnam, Sri Krishna Tulabharam, Bhakta Kannappa, and Bobbili Raja, etc. She played dual roles in Iddaru Ammayilu (1972)[Telugu Remake of 1969 release Kannada film Kappu Bilupu), Ganga Manga (1973 remake of the Hindi film Seeta Aur Geeta), Jeevana Jyothi (1975), and Chilipi Krishnudu (1978). She financed and starred in Shyam Benegal's only Telugu film Anugraham (1977), co-starring Smita Patil. She acted with Sivaji Ganesan in a number of films such as Uyarntha Manithan (1968), Nirai Kudam (1969), Vasantha Maligai (1972), Sivakamiyin Selvan (1974), Vani Rani (Tamil remake of the Hindi film Seeta Aur Geeta) (1974) and Nallathoru Kudumbam (1979). In the late 1970s, Vanisri left films to get married and have a son and a daughter.

Vanisri returned to film in the late 1980s acting in mother roles, such as her character in Athaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu (1989). She was also in the 1999 hindi film Main Tere Pyar Mein Pagal directed by Telugu director K. Raghavendra Rao. She often portrays arrogant mothers-in-law or aunts. Vanisri has acted in television serials as well.

She also worked as politician in Congress party.
