Kalidas Jayaram is an Indian film actor known for his work in Malayalam films.

The son of film actors Jayaram and Parvathy, Kalidas made his debut with the Malayalam film Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal (2000) at the tender age of 7. Later he starred in the film Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum (2003) which won him the National Award for Best Child Artist.

Kalidas was born to actors Jayaram and Parvathy. He has a younger sister Malavika Jayaram. He completed his schooling from Choice School, Cochin, Kerala He received his bachelor's degree in Visual Communication from Loyola College, Chennai.

Kalidas has proved himself as a talented actor from his performances as a child artist itself. He made his debut as a child artist in Sathyan Anthikkad's "Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal" (2000) at the tender age of 7. He received the National Award for Best Child Artist for his second film "Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum" (2003) directed by Siby Malayil. The interesting part is that in both the films, he played as Jayaram's son. In the year 2014, his mimicry performance imitating Surya, Ajith and Vijay at the 8th Vijay Awards became a huge hit and he was reportedly approached by a line of ace directors to cast him as the lead hero for their upcoming projects. But Kalidas instead chose to act as the lead hero for Balaji Tharaneetharan's second directorial venture Oru Pakka Kathai. Kamal Haasan, close friend of his father Jayaram introduced Kalidas during the launch of the movie in Chennai. The film will start rolling in October 2014 and is slated for an early 2015 release.

Mithra Kurian (born Dalma Kurian), is an Indian film actress who appears in Malayalam and Tamil films. After appearing in supporting roles in two Malayalam films, she starred in two Tamil films, before essaying lead female roles and gaining attention in Malayalam cinema. Her portrayal of Sethulakshmi in Bodyguard (2010) won her critical acclaim and she went on to reprise the role in its Tamil remake Kaavalan. Her another notable role was in Rama Ravanan starring Suresh Gopi. She is related to noted South Indian actress Nayanthara.

She first appeared in a supporting role in the 2004 Malayalam movie Vismayathumbathu, in a single scene as Nayanthara's friend, directed by Fazil. She then appeared in 2005 film Mayookham directed by T. Hariharan, following which she took a break from acting and concentrated on her studies. She was then cast by director Siddique in a supporting role for his Tamil film Sadhu Miranda, after he saw Mithra on a cover of an issue of the magazine Grihalakshmi. Afterwards, she starred in another Tamil film, the low-budget venture Suriyan Satta Kalloori, which was panned by critics.
Mithra subsequently appeared in notable Malayalam films, and gained considerable attention, by her choice of characters in films like Gulumal: The Escape and Bodyguard. She was the lead actress in the comedy flick Gulumal, which turned out to be a superhit movie. She appeared as a supporting character in the Dileep-starrer Bodyguard, again under Siddique's direction, which became another hit. Gaining critical acclaim for her performance as Sethulakshmi, she was selected by Siddique to reprise the role in its Tamil remake, Kaavalan, as well.

Jayaram (Jayaram Subramaniam) is an Indian film actor who predominately acts in Malayalam films and at times in Tamil films. He is also a chenda percussionist and mimic artist.

Jayaram made his debut in Padmarajan's Aparan (1988). He was cast again in Padmarajan's Moonnam Pakkam (1988) and Innale (1989). He was able to create a mark for himself in the industry with films such as Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal (1989), Thoovalsparsham (1990), Nagarangalil Chennu Raparkam (1990), and Georgootty C/O Georgootty (1991). By the 1990s, he was most famous for his collaborations with Rajasenan, which turned out to be commercial hits, with films such as Ayalathe Adheham (1992), Meleparambil Aanveedu (1993), CID Unnikrishnan B.A., B.Ed. (1994), Aadyathe Kanmani (1995), and The Car (1997). Jayaram's films were such a success with the family audiences that he was labelled as the actor with the least risk, in terms of box office results. His association with director Sathyan Anthikad was also notable

Jayram won his first Kerala State Film Award, a Special Jury Award, for his performance in the film Thooval Kottaram (1996). He went on to win another Kerala State Film Award, and has won four Filmfare Awards South. In 2001, he won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award, Special Prize award, for his performance in Thenali (2000). His performances in the films One Man Show (2001), Manassinakkare (2003), Veruthe Oru Bharya (2008), Bhagyadevatha (2009), Seetha Kalyanam (2009) and Thuppakki (2012).In 2011, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contribution towards the arts.

Career

After college, he joined Kalabhavan, a professional mimicry troupe in Kochi. At the age of 22, he was introduced into the cinema field by script writer and filmmaker Padmarajan who gave Jayaram his launching pad with the 1988 film Aparan. Jayaram subsequently acted in Padmarajan's Moonnam Pakkam (1988) and Innale (1989). Padmarajan became his mentor in his film career till the former's death in January 1991.He became one of the Superstars of Malayalam film industry through the film Meleparambil Aanveedu(1993) which was directed by Rajasenan.It was the biggest hit of that time,which broke several records.

He is noted for playing in Kamal's films during the late 80s and early 90s, in films such as Pradeshika Vaarthakal (1989), Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal (1989), and Shubha Yathra (1990) (all of them scripted by Ranjith), where he co-starred with his wife Parvathy. He later did a film scripted by Ranjith with the story by Jagathy Sreekumar, Viji Thampi's directional debut Witness (1988). He teamed up with Viji Thampi and Ranjith in Nanma Niranjavan Srinivasan (1990) where he played a police constable who is in search of a criminal played by Mukesh. During the early 90s he acted in Bharathan's Keli (1991) and Malootty (1992).

He has acted in several of Sathyan Anthikkad's films. Their first film was Ponn Muttyidunna Tharavu (1988). Around that time Jayaram played a supporting role in Sathyan Anthikkad's Ardham (1989). Thalayanamanthram (1990) and Sandesham (1991), were both written and co-starring Sreenivasan. Anthikkad and Jayaram later went on to make Thooval Kottaram (1996), Irattakuttikalude Achan (1997), Veendum Chila Veettukaryangal (1999), Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal (2000), Yathrakarude Sradhakku (2002), Manassinakkare (2003), Bhagya Devatha and Kadha Thudarunnu.

He support acted with Mammootty in Joshi's Dhruvam (1993). Other films with Gopi include Viji Thampi's Nagarangalil Chennu Raparkam (1990), Thooval Sparsam (1990), Jayaraj's Paithrukam (1993), and Sibi Malayil's Summer in Bethlehem (1998). He co-starred with Mohanlal in Bharath Gopi's Ulsavapittennu, Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal (1989) and Priyadarshan's Advaitham (1991).

His association with director Rajasenan created many movies such as Kadinjool Kalyanam (1991), Ayalathe Addeham (1992), Meleparambil Aanveedu (1993), CID Unnikrishnan B.A., B.Ed. (1994), Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava (1995), Aadyathe Kanmani (1995), Swapna Lokathe Balabhaskaran (1996), and Kadhanayakan (1997). He also played Aravindan in Siddique's Friends (1999) in which he co-starred with Sreenivasan and Mukesh. In the first decade of the 21st century his films include Yathrakarude Sradhakku (2002), Manassinakkare (2003), Veruthe Oru Bharya (2008). His roles include Karunakaran in B Kannan's Theerthadanam (2001) and Lonappan in Rajeev Kumar's Sesham (2002).

He also forayed into Tamil cinema including roles in Gokulam, Purushalakshanam, Priyanka, Kolangal, Murai Mamman and Pathini. He played the roles of Dr. Kailash and as Ayyappan Nair in Kamal Haasan starred Thenali and Panchathanthiram. They first came together on screen in Chanakyan (1989). Recently he has done more supporting roles in Tamil, such as antagonist roles in Saroja and Dhaam Dhoom, and a comic role in Aegan.

His movies include Manassinakkare (2003) Njaan Salperu Raman Kutty (2004), Finger Print (2005), Alice in Wonderland (2005), Madhuchandralekha (2006), Moonnamathoral (2006), and Anchil Oral Arjunan (2007). In mid-2008, he played Sugunan in Akku Akbar's Veruthe Oru Bharya which became a mega hit (2008) and Thuppakki(2012). established himself as one of the leading comedy actors of Malayalam and Tamil films.

He had a couple of hits in 2009 with Sathyan Anthikkad's Bhagyadevatha and Happy Husbands. In 2010 he again joined with Sathyan Anthikkadu for Kadha Thudarunnu,which was a runaway hit. In 2011 he had 1 hit, namely Makeup Man and two superhits namely Seniors. and Chinatown a comic role in both these films. while Ulakam Chuttum Valiban got poor reviews and ended up as a flop. In 2012, his movies Njanum Ente Familiyum, Pakarnnattam, Thiruvambady Thamban, Madirasi, all failed at the boxoffice.

Personal life

Jayaram is married to actress Parvathy, who is no longer active in films. Their son Kalidasan is a child film artist who won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist in 2003 for his second movie, Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum. Jayaram also has a daughter, Malavika.
